welcome to yellowcard

Historically, female leadership books/classes/speeches have focused on what WE, as women, need to change to be effective leaders. That is short-sighted. Sure, we can learn to "lean in." But what are we leaning into exactly? Are we leaning into a room filled with different thoughts, ideas, and solutions coming from people of diverse backgrounds and experiences?  Are we leaning into a welcoming room that is inspiring and rewarding? A room that is filled with integrity and honesty? A room that is tough but fair? A room where hard work in the office is rewarded more than funny jokes told over scotch during boy's night out?  Are we leaning into a place where a great idea that delivers results is heard regardless of whether we put on make-up on that particular day, or the color of our skin is white, our voice is sufficiently baritone, or the idea is delivered with a smile?

Yellowcard is, first and foremost, a representative tool to drive change. Yellow card, and other “micro-feminist” tools will help us collectively move away from traditional corporate norms that are reflective of current and past dominant leadership archetypes (old white guys). Are old white guys ubiquitously "bad guys?" Nope. But, it was largely white guys who built our current corporate culture and that universal model needs a few ahhhhhh tweaks. Okay, okay it needs a f$&king sledgehammer. Are women exempt from old white guy behavior? Are women universally "good gals?" Nope. And Nope. Many of us are/were complicit in accepting the status quo as an acceptable medium in which to operate...for decades. Other women have sufficiently bought into the “old white guy” model such that they have shaped our their behaviors in that vein.

In addition to providing an actionable tool, the Yellowcard platform seeks to build community. So whether you are someone looking for specific tips and tricks to navigate a subpar workplace situation, you are someone with agency willing and eager to push back on a broken system, you are a seeking to build skills as an ally, or you just need to know you are not alone....welcome.
